Local university reminds students and staff of safety tips
SUMMARY: As the time changes and it gets darker earlier, safety is a concern on the Mississippi University for Women campus in Columbus. The Chief of Campus Police encourages students to be mindful of their surroundings and use the buddy system when walking around. They also have a safety walk program and urge students to report anything suspicious to the police, rather than on social media. The campus is conducting a lighting tour to assess lighting needs for increased safety during darker hours. The W alert system is used to keep the campus community updated on emergencies.
