5 men arrested in bad check investigation
SUMMARY: Five men from Florida and Georgia were arrested at a motel in Richland, Mississippi after attempting to pass a bad check at a community bank in Madison. The arrest led to the discovery of two word processors, blank check forms, forged prescriptions, and checks that were destroyed when police arrived. All five men were charged with conspiracy related to uttering forgery and were each given a $1 million bond. One of the suspects was taken to University of Mississippi Medical Center with no update on their condition. The names of the individuals involved have not been released.

Ceremony held for fallen police officers in north Mississippi
SUMMARY: National Fallen Officers Memorial Week is a time to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in law enforcement. A ceremony at the Elvis Presley birthplace Museum in Tupelo honored fallen officers from Northeast Mississippi. Chief Deputy Bob Poe spoke at the event, acknowledging the dangers of the job and the sacrifices officers make. Family members and fellow officers gathered to remember those who gave their lives in the line of duty, from recent years to as far back as 1947. Each name and face serves as a reminder of the importance of their work and the impact they can have on others.
Monday kicks off National Fallen Police Officers Week, a time for family, friends and fellow law enforcement officers to remember those that paid the ultimate sacrifice.
