Mississippi couple charged in death of 5-month-old
SUMMARY: A Biloxi couple was arrested for the death of their five-month-old child. Police responded to Merit Health Biloxi on June 13 and found that 20-year-old Summer Rose Hill and 21-year-old Takavian Keivon Gibbs had brought their deceased child to the emergency room. Medical staff discovered multiple injuries consistent with abuse. Both Hill and Gibbs were charged with child abuse and received a $500,000 bond each. They are to be booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may follow. Information can be reported to the Biloxi Police Department.

Man charged after multiple drugs, guns found in Jackson home
SUMMARY: In Jackson, Mississippi, 38-year-old Tarus Whitfield was arrested after a search by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN) and Capitol Police uncovered multiple drugs and firearms. Conducted on June 11, the search seized methamphetamine, marijuana, crack and powder cocaine, oxycodone, morphine, Xanax, and over two dozen unidentified pills. Authorities also found two shotguns, two rifles (one with a switch), and a Glock pistol with a switch. Whitfield faces multiple charges, including drug trafficking and firearm possession by a convicted felon. Further arrests are anticipated.

Funeral arrangement finalized for children killed in Lowndes Co. fire
SUMMARY: Funeral arrangements for the two children killed in a Lowndes County fire on May 28 have been finalized. Willie Baldwin III, 15, and Taeveion Kidd, 10, died in the blaze at their family's home on Deer Trail in the New Hope area. Visitation is scheduled for tomorrow from 2-6 p.m. at Carter's Funeral Services in Columbus. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday at New Hope Middle School at 2 p.m. Four other people, including another child and the boys' parents, were injured. The home was a total loss. The fire's cause remains under investigation.
