Dolly Parton lends her talents to benefit concert in Philadelphia, Miss.
SUMMARY: Country music artist Marty Stuart is making progress in his goal to establish the Congress of country music in his hometown of Philadelphia, Mississippi. The first phase of renovating the historic Ellis theater is complete, and now Dolly Parton is joining the effort by performing two benefit concerts at the venue. Ticket sales, ranging from $35 for outdoor screenings to $3,500 for front row seats, will contribute to the fundraising for the Congress building. Stuart plans to begin construction in early 2024, with the project estimated to take around 18 months to complete.

Jackson County Code Enforcement tackling menace properties in Virginia City area of Vancleave

Captain Pete Skrmetta dies at 94
SUMMARY: Captain Pete Sketa, the long-serving captain of the Ship Island ferry, passed away on Father's Day at the age of 94. He operated the ferry, which transported tourists to and from the Barrier Islands, well into his 80s. The family business, Ship Island Excursions, is now managed by his four sons and nephew, Ronnie.
