How to give or get help after deadly Mississippi tornadoes
Organizations, nonprofits, and community members throughout the state have come together to collect resources for those affected by Friday night's severe weather and tornadoes.
On Sunday morning, Governor Tate Reeves' request for Individual and Public Assistance was approved by the White House, allowing residents to receive grants for temporary housing, home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs.
Residents in Carroll, Humphreys, Monroe, and Sharkey counties who sustained losses can now apply for assistance by registering online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired.
At this time, the Mississippi Department of Public Safety is partnering with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce to accept donations of bottled water, canned goods, and paper products.
