Heavy sand being placed on the beach to help keep sand off Hwy 90 in Biloxi

Heavy sand brought in from is being laid on top of the sand beach in to keep sand from blowing onto .

The heavy sand is part of a $3 million beach that has been going on for several years.

The sand is being dumped from Oak Street down to the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor. It also includes a new mile-long ten- wide boardwalk, east of the beach, with an 18-inch high knee wall to help trap blowing sand from reaching Highway 90. The boardwalks have already been completed.

A future addition to the same area will include an expansion…

Moss Point student pilots cruising the skies

SUMMARY: High in Mississippi are taking flight lessons through the school district's aviation academy. The students are currently working with Aspire Aviation at Trent Lott International Airport, learning how to pilot small airplanes. They have already passed their written FAA flight exam and are now undergoing flight instruction. The goal is for them to obtain their private pilot license and be able to fly on their own. The students, James Spain II and Linal Tickles Jr., hope to inspire others in the Moss Point school system to pursue a career in aviation and contribute to the local .
