SUMMARY: Newton County deputies in Mississippi have rescued 71 dogs from two properties where they were found neglected and mistreated. The dogs were found abandoned in cages, tied to trees, or running loose, with numerous deceased dogs also found on the properties. The deputies contacted the Mississippi Animal Rescue League (MARL), who, in turn, called on Animal Rescue Corps in Nashville, Tennessee for assistance. With the help of BISSELL Pet Foundation and teams from Hattiesburg and New Orleans, all the dogs were secured and treated before being transported to Nashville for further care. Two individuals have been arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty.
