Winter weather moves in to Jackson metro area

Yal Basurto, a resident, is getting propane gas to heat his home. Truck driver Ray Woodall drove through snow and ice from Dyersburg, Tennessee, and had to stop to scrape his truck. Despite the slow traffic, people are still out on the roads.

SUMMARY: South Central Regional Medical Center recently held its annual volunteer awards ceremony and appreciation reception, where they honored 43 volunteers who collectively contributed over 7,000 hours of service. These volunteers traditionally assisted in areas like the emergency department, Children's Academy offices, and nursing homes. Awards were given for Caring Teen Volunteer of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. The hospital acknowledged that they hadn't been able to honor their volunteers since 2019, and expressed gratitude for their dedication. They also encouraged others to get involved by visiting their website for more information on volunteering opportunities at the hospital.

SUMMARY: An 18-wheeler crash on Interstate 59 South near the Evelyn Gandy exit has caused major delays, with one lane closed as emergency crews respond. The driver of the 18-wheeler, identified as 21-year-old Khalil Griffith, died in the crash.
