SUMMARY: The SWAC off-season has seen significant coaching changes. Willie Simmons resigned as head coach of FAMU to join Manny Diaz's staff at Duke. Diaz, the former head coach at Miami, appointed as the head coach of the Blue Devils last month. Fred McNair, with a successful track record at Alcorn , is a potential candidate for the FAMU head coaching position. However, Southern's Board of Regents has paused his appointment as head coach, considering other options. McNair has won two titles in seven years, making him an attractive option for FAMU. The coaching carousel in the SWAC continues to drama and intrigue.

SWAC Coach of the Year and SWAC Champion head coach Willie Simmons of FAMU is now headed to the ACC. After five seasons he resigns as Flordia A&M's head coach to be the running backs coach at Duke where former Miami head coach Manny Diaz was just hired. Simmons led the Rattlers to the SWAC title and a win over in the Celebration Bowl. The opening at FAMU could be a possible landed spot for former Alcorn State head coach Fred McNair who is still in limbo as he awaits a final from Texas Southern.
