Wheelchair swings found damaged just three months after installation
SUMMARY: Recently, wheelchair accessible swings at Veterans Park were damaged, just three months after installation. The swings were funded by Caleb Rogers' family, who have a child with Cerebral Palsy. It is suspected that the swings were vandalized, leaving the chains missing. The chains provide stability when loading someone onto the swing. The Parks and Rec director, Leean Maddox, replaced the chains and urges the public to report any unsafe equipment or areas in the parks. The Rogers family hopes that people will continue to use the wheelchair accessible swings, as they benefit not only children but also adults with special abilities.
Three months after wheelchair-accessible swings were installed at Veterans Park, Tupelo Parks and Recreation posted to Facebook that they were found damaged.
