Weather delays opening of East Hardy Street Bridge

SUMMARY: The reopening of the old East Hardy Street bridge in Ped and Hattisburg will be further delayed due to weather and material delays, with no set date for when it will open. Local businesses are suffering from slower traffic and decreased sales as a result of the closure. The Forest County Board of Supervisors has not discussed compensation for these businesses. In addition, a section of South Main Avenue in Pedal will also be closed for 2 to 3 more months for drainage installation, with traffic being redirected to Dawson Cut Off to Carterville Road. are hopeful for the bridge to open in the next few weeks.
