SUMMARY: Jones County Elementary School's PTO is working hard to beautify the campus with new equipment. Fundraisers have been held to install new picnic tables, benches, swings, and paint over the summer. The group is also looking to purchase a new digital sign for the front of the campus, with a goal of reaching $20,000 for these projects. SUMMARY: Hattisburg Police Department has introduced handheld radar cameras in school zones to catch speeding drivers. Crossing guards and officers have noticed some change, but many drivers are still not slowing down. Over 400 speeding violations have been recorded in the first two weeks of the pilot program, with some drivers going well over the 50 mph speed limit.
