Interview: Tupelo hospital participating in Babies with Books NICU Read-A-Thon
SUMMARY: North Mississippi Health Services is hosting the Babies with Books International readathon for NICU units. The competition runs from September 11th to 21st, during which families are encouraged to read to their babies. Reading aloud to infants has been proven to improve cardiorespiratory strength, bonding between parents and babies, voice recognition, language development, and math skills. The hospital is also accepting donations of new children's books to create a reading library for the babies even after the readathon ends. Donations can be dropped off at the hospital's security desk.
