SUMMARY: A severe storm threat is forecasted for the afternoon and evening with high winds of 60 MPH or greater and possible tornadoes. The main window for severe weather is from 6 PM to 3 AM, with increasing risk to the west. Starting around 5-6 PM, storms will enter Mississippi, some exhibiting strong supercell characteristics, depending on daytime heating and sky clarity. From 8-10 PM, the storms, potentially bringing damaging winds and tornadoes, will move towards the Meridian Laro county line and into western Alabama. Residents should plan for overnight alerts and keep phones on for emergency notifications. After the storm, cooler weather and a slight chance of rain are expected for Thanksgiving.
