Sixth suspect arrested in connection to Latimer shooting

SUMMARY: Ricky Dale Reed, 44, was by for his involvement in a shooting in November. Reed was charged with hindering prosecution and possessing meth. He had tried to conceal Tanisha Chiasson, also linked to the shooting and arrested earlier. Four others are charged in the incident, which caused no injuries: Matt Fletcher, 18, for shooting into a vehicle; two unidentified teenagers; and Jaclyn Sisti, 33, for accessory. The suspects fled a shooting scene, causing a crash, before hiding. Reed and Chiasson face court proceedings with significant bonds set.

The AWS centers will be completed within the next five to seven years, potentially adding $3.3 billion to Mississippi's GDP.

Former high school financial secretary pleads guilty to embezzlement

SUMMARY: Dana Walker, a former financial secretary at H.W. Byers High School in Mississippi, has pleaded guilty to embezzling approximately $39,471.70 in school activity funds. Auditor Shad White announced Walker's guilty plea her arrest by the Marshall County School District in February 2022. The funds in question were collected from and staff between August 2020 and February 2022 for various school activities. Walker's employment was covered by a $50,000 surety bond to protect taxpayers. She is for sentencing on August 13 in Marshall County Circuit Court. The State Auditor's office reaffirms its zero-tolerance policy for fraud.
