Screenwriter wins awards

SUMMARY: Will Simms, a local writer and executive producer, has gained recognition for his screenplay “Cotton Sack” which has won numerous awards nationally and internationally. The screenplay was inspired by a family heirloom passed down through generations and tells a story about Simms' parents who met in a cotton field while sharecropping. Simms believes the screenplay sheds light on growing up in the town of Brandon under the shadow of a Confederate statue and speaks to healing and forgiveness. Simms is currently a finalist in the Nashville Film Festival.

Will Sims has collected several awards for a screenplay he's written.
