Samples show no E. coli in Jackson’s water, officials say
SUMMARY: JXN Water officials in Jackson, Mississippi took repeat water samples after the state lab reported E. coli in two samples. The Mississippi State Department of Health issued a boil water alert for Jackson and Flowood. The six repeat samples were taken and delivered to the state laboratory. On Friday, January 12, it was reported that all six samples were negative for E. coli. The Interim Third-Party Manager of JXN Water expressed concern over the state's issuing of the boil water notice before confirming the initial results. Both cities remain under state-imposed boil water notices. JXN Water will continue to conduct sampling to meet state requirements.

CPD makes Aggravated Domestic Violence arrest
SUMMARY: On April 27th, Columbus Police responded to a gunshot victim in the 800 block of North Lehmberg. Courtney Stewart Wiggly was arrested for shooting her husband, Daryl Wiggly, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was flown to Jackson for treatment. Courtney is in custody at Lowndes County Adult Detention Center awaiting her Initial Appearance. The incident is being investigated as aggravated domestic violence.
