Renovation, repair has begun on busy Laurel street
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Legislature created an exploitation fund in 2020 to fund busy streets in the city of Laurel. The fund will be used for water and sewer repairs, with about 2 million dollars allocated from ARPA funds. The work will be done on 3rd Avenue between 10th Street and 13th Street, affecting almost 50 homes and the central office for Laurel School District. Several lane and road closures are expected, with the project expected to be finished in August. The city will update residents on closures and will reassure them that the work is necessary for the future.
