Primary Election Day 2023 is almost here. What to know before heading to the polls
SUMMARY: The primary election in Mississippi is one week away, and Secretary of State Michael Watson has provided reminders for voters to make the process easier. The deadline for in-person absentee voting is August 5, while mail-in absentee ballots must be postmarked by August 8 and received by August 15. Voters must present an acceptable form of photo ID if voting by affidavit ballot. It is unlawful to campaign within 150 feet of a polling place, and voters are prohibited from taking pictures of their marked ballot. Nearly 27,000 absentee ballots have been requested so far.

SUMMARY: Officials will gather in Madison County for a groundbreaking ceremony for Amazon Web Services (AWS) on Monday. AWS is investing over $10 billion into two hyperscale data centers in Mississippi, one at the Madison County Mega Site and another near Tougaloo College. Gov. Tate Reeves signed legislation in January facilitating this project, expected to create over 1,000 high-tech jobs. Lawmakers appropriated $44 million for infrastructure and loaned $215.1 million to ensure project completion within five to seven years. The groundbreaking event is scheduled for 9 a.m. at 108 Walker Drive in Canton.

Months after fans called for Lemonis’ job, Mississippi State baseball back in postseason
