Ole Miss basketball falls at home to No. 20 South Carolina, diminishing NCAA Tournament hopes
SUMMARY: The Ole Miss men's basketball team's NCAA Tournament hopes took a hit with a 72-59 defeat against No. 20 South Carolina. The Rebels' poor shooting, with a 33% field goal rate and 3 out of 16 three-pointers, was pivotal in their loss. Early foul trouble for leading scorer Matthew Murrell and the ejection of Allen Flanigan weakened their offense further. Despite the Gamecocks' modest offensive performance, Ole Miss struggled to maintain offensive rhythm due to South Carolina's aggressive defense. South Carolina's B.J. Mack led with 17 points. Ole Miss looks to recover when they play No. 13 Alabama next.

Governor’s signature implements new public school funding formula in Mississippi
SUMMARY: Mississippi has replaced the Mississippi Adequate Education Program (MAEP) with a new K-12 public education funding formula following Governor Tate Reeves' signature on House Bill 4130. The decision ended a legislative struggle between the State House, which proposed the new formula called the Mississippi Student Funding Formula (initially the INSPIRE Act), and the Senate, which favored amendments to MAEP. The new non-complex formula sets a minimal base student cost and adds weights for students requiring additional resources, aiming for accountability in regular full funding. Beginning July 1, the formula will be reassessed every four years.
