3-year-old struck during carjacking, armed robbery at Jayne Avenue Park
SUMMARY: Jackson Police are intensifying patrols in Jayne Avenue following a series of violent incidents. On Saturday, a three-year-old at Jayne Avenue Park was struck by a car driven by suspects who stole a family's vehicle at gunpoint. The child is recovering in the hospital. Police Chief Joseph Wade called the situation unacceptable and confirmed a manhunt for the suspects. Despite the crime surge, including a recent robbery involving a 14-year-old and the murder of a 43-year-old, the community remains active in the park. Police attribute the violence to gang activity and vow to restore safety through heightened law enforcement presence.
