Mississippi’s largest economic project holds hiring event
SUMMARY: Steel Dynamics, Inc. is starting to hire workers for the largest economic development project in Mississippi's history. The $2.5 billion investment will create 1,000 jobs in the Golden Triangle Industrial Park, with an average salary of nearly $100,000. Governor Tate Reeves is pleased with the project and believes it will positively impact the lives of many Mississippians. A hiring event will be held on October 14 and 15, and jobs available include electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, operations, maintenance, and more. Aluminum Dynamics expects to begin production in the summer of 2025. Last year, Mississippi lawmakers approved almost $247 million in state incentives for the project.

SUMMARY: One man, Joshua Bennet, was killed in a shooting at a Jackson gas station. The incident occurred at a Shell gas station on West Northside Drive on May 17. An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting, but has not been identified. Detective Tommie Brown confirmed the arrest. The Jackson Police Department and Crime Stoppers are seeking additional information from the public regarding the incident.
