Mississippi man free after court rules part of federal gun statute ‘unconstitutional’

SUMMARY: A federal that prohibits unlawful drug users from possessing firearms has been voided by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, the case of Mississippi man, Patrick Daniels. Daniels was in 2022 for possessing marijuana and firearms during a traffic stop, but his conviction was thrown out by the court. The court found that the law was unconstitutional as it applied to Daniels because it does not distinguish between someone who is intoxicated and someone who is sober but in possession of drug paraphernalia. This is seen as a victory for gun rights activists.

Bond revoked for Jones County woman accused of having sex with dogs
