Dau Mabil rally in Jackson calls for answers
SUMMARY: A vigil and news conference were held to raise awareness about the case of Dau Mabil, a Sudan native who went missing in March and was later found dead in the Pearl River. Family, friends, and supporters, including the Mississippi NAACP, are frustrated with the handling of the investigation, citing a lack of information and transparency from the Capitol Police. Dau's family, represented by his foster mother and brother, are demanding a thorough investigation and federal intervention. A court ruling prevented Dau's cremation to allow for an independent autopsy. A prayer vigil was also held to honor his life.
