Mississippi Aquarium holds beach clean up
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Aquarium held its Changing Tides Festival launching with a beach clean-up event at Jones Park. The clean-up coincides with the aquarium's latest expansion which includes a kelp forest, tropical jungle, and warm water ocean habitats. Cleanup tools were provided by the Mississippi Coastal Cleanup Program, and volunteers kept track of the pollution types collected. The purpose of the cleanup is not only to enhance the beach, but also to limit potential pollution from spilling into the Sound and the Gulf of Mexico.
