SUMMARY: KeJuan Washington is a remarkable young athlete who has overcome numerous struggles since being born one pound four ounces and needing three major heart surgeries. Despite these obstacles, Washington is excelling in football at age 13 and already making a positive impact on the younger generation. He credits football with teaching him valuable lessons and is motivated to continue playing to honor the memory of his cousin, who served as a role model to him. Washington is also sharing his skills with younger players in the community and hopes to continue doing so before pursuing his dreams of playing football at the of Alabama.

Thelma Mothershed Wair, a member of the Little Rock Nine who integrated an Arkansas school, has died

SUMMARY: Thelma Mothershed Wair, one of the “Little Rock Nine” who integrated Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, has died at 83 complications from multiple sclerosis. In 1957, she hostility as Arkansas’ Governor Faubus blocked her and other Black from enrolling. With President Eisenhower’s intervention, they attended school amidst threats. Mothershed earned degrees in education and counseling, worked as a teacher and counselor, and made significant contributions until her retirement. She leaves behind a son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Each member of the Little Rock Nine received a Congressional Gold Medal, which they donated to the Clinton Presidential Library.
