Meridian man sentenced to 50 years for sexually assaulting 12-year-old girl

SUMMARY: Gary Raymon Rush, a 35-year-old from Meridian, received a 50-year prison sentence without parole for sex crimes against a 12-year-old child. Circuit Court Judge Randi P. Mueller issued the sentence for sexual battery and two counts of touching a child for lustful purposes. Rush had been found guilty by a jury after evidence surfaced that he had been caught in the victim's bedroom by a member. The abuse occurred at night and started two weeks before it was discovered. Rush also had a prior guilty plea for attempted rape in Lauderdale County. He will serve his sentence in the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
