Mayor to issue RFP for garbage collection
SUMMARY: The mayor of Jackson, Mississippi, has announced that he is restarting the garbage contracting process after two years. The city council was initially in negotiations to extend the contract with Richards Disposal, but the mayor claims they backed out, prompting him to issue a new request for proposals. The cost of the new garbage fees could be higher than the current rates, and the mayor plans to issue the request no later than November 21st. The city council applauds the mayor's decision to move forward and will seek legal advice from the state auditor and attorney general's office.
