Man wanted for fatal shooting on Clinton Avenue
SUMMARY: Jackson police are searching for 22-year-old Marcus Haynes in connection to a recent homicide on Clinton Avenue. An arrest warrant has been issued for him, and he is considered to be armed and dangerous. The victim was shot multiple times, and the police are asking for anyone with information to contact them.

SUMMARY: A 46-year-old man was arrested in connection to a bank robbery at Trustmark Bank in Jackson. The man handed a note demanding money to a teller, who complied. The suspect, David Barrett, fled the scene in a vehicle towards Flowood. Capitol police recovered the stolen $734.50 and arrested Barrett, charging him with robbery. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Capitol Police Chief Bo Luckey thanked officers and investigators from multiple departments for their swift response and collaboration in apprehending the criminal.

SUMMARY: Governor Tate Reeves declared May 5-11, 2024, as Hurricane Preparedness week for Mississippi, urging citizens to prepare for the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season. The National Weather Service predicts an average of 14 named storms, seven hurricanes, and three major hurricanes. MEMA recommends having a disaster supply kit, doing an insurance check, and following key messages on social media during Hurricane Preparedness Week. The official Atlantic Hurricane Season is from June 1 to November 30, 2024. MEMA has created a new Hurricane Guide to assist Mississippians in preparing for the upcoming season.
