Man sentenced for shooting death of nephew in Jackson

Capitol police arrest man for Trustmark Bank robbery
SUMMARY: A 46-year-old man was arrested in connection to a bank robbery at Trustmark Bank in Jackson. The man handed a note demanding money to a teller, who complied. The suspect, David Barrett, fled the scene in a vehicle towards Flowood. Capitol police recovered the stolen $734.50 and arrested Barrett, charging him with robbery. Medgar Evers to receive Presidential Medal of Freedom
SUMMARY: Medgar Evers, a civil rights leader and World War II veteran from Mississippi, will posthumously receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Mississippi prepares to mark 2024 Hurricane Preparedness Week
SUMMARY: Governor Tate Reeves declared May 5-11, 2024, as Hurricane Preparedness week for Mississippi, urging citizens to prepare for the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
