SUMMARY: Friday had strong storms with wind, hail, and heavy rain, bringing 1-3 inches of rainfall. Cold front moved east, bringing cooler, drier air and more sunshine. Dew points fell from 60s to 50s, making it more comfortable. Highs stayed in low to mid-80s. Winds were 10-15 mph, gusting to 20 mph. Weekend forecast shows pleasant weather, with Saturday being fantastic and Sunday having potential for spotty showers in the evening. Monday may bring more rain. Overall, Friday ended nicely with a beautiful weekend ahead. Enjoy the Mother's Day holiday weekend.

Power outage leads to boil water alert in Jackson
SUMMARY: Jackson, MS issued a city-wide boil water notice due to a power outage at the O.B. Curtis Water Treatment Plant caused by a storm. The plant lost power for 7 hours, leaving many without electricity. Jackson Water said the notice could be lifted by Saturday afternoon once they provide clean water samples. Efforts are being made to prevent future outages by working with Entergy to make energy switches automatic. The Health Department is coordinating closely to ensure water safety. Residents are advised to continue boiling water until the notice is lifted. Recovery efforts are ongoing to restore normal water supply.

One injured, another in custody after evening shooting in Houlka
SUMMARY: A man in Chickasaw County is hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds following a shooting. The incident occurred on County Road 308, with the victim identified as James Griffin. Griffin had a witness who identified the shooter as Carrie Harris. Chief Deputy of Chickasaw County emphasized that those using guns to resolve conflicts will face consequences. The Sheriff's Department received a call about Griffin undergoing surgery, and updates on the case will be provided. Law enforcement officials are working to prevent such incidents, but crimes like this will be punished according to the law.
