Veterans are three times more likely to suffer from PTSD than the average U.S. citizen, and fireworks can sometimes simulate combat environments and cause distress. Gulf Coast Veterans Affair Behavioral Coordinator, Dr. Tegi Tartt Godbolt, advises people to be mindful of this when setting off fireworks and suggests veterans ground themselves during such situations by reminding themselves they are not in combat. The Veterans Affairs (VA) offers group and individual therapy for those in need.

Family files lawsuit after teen’s suicide in Harrison County Jail

SUMMARY: The old frontal boundary is stalled near the coast, with storms expected to fire along it later in the day. The heaviest rainfall is predicted along a line from Austin to DeRidder, up to McComb and near Hattiesburg over the next few days. Severe storms are more likely to form north of this boundary, with large hail possible. The area will be unstable before midnight, with conditions conducive for severe storms. Multiple storm systems are expected on Friday, bringing heavy rainfall and the potential for severe weather. By the weekend, the threat of heavy rain and severe storms will diminish as the surface low and upper weakness move east.
