Bay High's girls triumphed over D'Iberville with a score of 38-24, led by Kiara Burney's 15 points. D'Iberville previously beat Long Beach 64-17, with Teeale Wells scoring 27 points. Gulfport's boys also won their season opener 68-34 against Bay High under new head coach Steve Hesser, with Amir Abdul Rauf scoring 25 points. Gulfport girls defeated Picayune 52-32, with M.J. Avery and Skyy Bush each scoring 11 points. D'Iberville's girls, after a loss, bounced back with a 52-31 victory over Pass Christian, with Wells again hitting 20 points. Both Gulfport teams are now pausing until their Thanksgiving Tournament.
