Holiday Train to make three stops in Mississippi
SUMMARY: The 2023 Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern (CPKC) Holiday Train will run from November 20 to December 19, 2023, to raise donations and awareness for food banks. The train will make stops in three cities in Mississippi, including Jackson, Meridian, and Vicksburg. The train features professional musicians who perform free concerts. CPKC will make donations to local food banks at each stop, and attendees are encouraged to do the same. Since its start in 1999, the CPKC Holiday Train has raised over $22.5 million and 5 million pounds of food for community food banks across North America.

Medgar Evers to receive Presidential Medal of Freedom

Mississippi prepares to mark 2024 Hurricane Preparedness Week
SUMMARY: Governor Tate Reeves declared May 5-11, 2024, as Hurricane Preparedness week for Mississippi, urging citizens to prepare for the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season. The National Weather Service predicts an average of 14 named storms, seven hurricanes, and three major hurricanes. Two injured after being shot multiple times in McComb
SUMMARY: Two men were shot multiple times in McComb near the intersection of 14th Street and Nelson Drive. The victims were identified as 27-year-old Marlik Harvey and 28-year-old Domonique McBride, both with multiple gunshot wounds. One victim was airlifted to UMMC in critical condition, while the other was treated and released from a local hospital. No suspects have been identified at this time.
