HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Germantown vs West Harrison (Battle at the Beach 3/14/2024)
SUMMARY: The West Harrison baseball team faced off against Germantown at Shucker Ballpark, with both teams showing strong performances on the field. Wiggins firefighter recovering after being pinned beneath fire engine
SUMMARY: Over the weekend, a fire engine flipped in Wiggins, pinning a firefighter underneath. The firefighter, who remains anonymous, was responding to an accident on Highway 26 by Bay Drive and SE Earl Road when the vehicle flipped twice. The firefighter was trapped but was kept safer by wearing a seatbelt. After a chaotic scene with equipment strewn around, the crew used the jaws of life to free the firefighter within ten minutes. Despite some complications, her injuries are not severe. The accident is under investigation by highway patrol. Stone County has replaced the fire department's vehicle to maintain operations.
