New parking garage could solve parking woes at Memorial Hospital
SUMMARY: Memorial Hospital in Gulfport is facing a parking issue for its workers and patients. Coast Transit Authority is stepping in with a solution – a parking garage that would double the capacity of the existing lot. The garage will have 520 spaces, a pedestrian bridge to the hospital, and eliminate the need to cross a busy street. The $24 million project will be partially funded by the hospital with hopes for the rest to come from a US Department of Transportation grant. CTA is also planning to build a new bus hub to expand services. Grant recipients will be announced in June.
Memorial Hospital could be getting a new parking garage to alleviate the parking issues that both workers and patients face on a daily basis.
