Frustration rises as 30K Entergy customers still without power
SUMMARY: Entergy Mississippi is facing criticism for its response to storms, with 43,000 residents left without power. Customers have accused the company of making their outage map more vague and providing less information. Entergy Mississippi CEO Haley Fisackerly said crews were working on restoring power, but more storms and a lack of out-of-state resources were causing disruptions in service. Central District Public Service Commissioner Brent Bailey urged the company to take swift action in order to prevent prolonged outages in the future.

Governor’s signature implements new public school funding formula in Mississippi
SUMMARY: Mississippi has replaced the Mississippi Adequate Education Program (MAEP) with a new K-12 public education funding formula following Governor Tate Reeves' signature on House Bill 4130. The decision ended a legislative struggle between the State House, which proposed the new formula called the Mississippi Student Funding Formula (initially the INSPIRE Act), and the Senate, which favored amendments to MAEP. The new non-complex formula sets a minimal base student cost and adds weights for students requiring additional resources, aiming for accountability in regular full funding. Beginning July 1, the formula will be reassessed every four years.
