Forbes releases list of best employers in Mississippi

SUMMARY: Forbes recently released a list of “America's Best Employers By ,” featuring nearly 20 businesses in Mississippi. The list was created based on an anonymous survey of approximately 70,000 employees from companies in all 50 states with at least 500 workers. The top companies were selected based on employee satisfaction and factors such as working conditions, diversity, compensation packages, and company image. Mississippi had a total of 17 employers on the list, NASA, Mississippi State , and MGM Resorts. The list includes a variety of industries, including aerospace & defense, education, , and retail.

Reeves celebrates Medicaid expansion dying as Hosemann questions governor’s numbers

State to allocate $95M in bonds for construction of new liquor storage facility

SUMMARY: Mississippi lawmakers have passed a bill authorizing up to $95 million in bonds to construct a new -owned liquor warehouse. The facility will store alcoholic beverages before distribution to retailers in the state, which controls liquor sales at the wholesale level. The current warehouse in Gluckstadt is outdated, causing distribution delays and shortages for retailers, restaurants and package stores. To fund the new warehouse, a $1.50 bailment fee will be charged on each case of liquor. Despite $119.7 million in revenue from 2023 liquor sales, there's debate about whether Mississippi should remain in the distribution business.
