Federal court hearing on Jackson water concerns resumes
SUMMARY: During a court hearing, various citizen advocates, including Rukia Lumumba, the Executive Director of the People's Advocacy Institute and the Mayor's sister, voiced their concerns about improving the city's water service. Lumumba suggested allowing greater public participation in decision-making, maintaining public control of the water system, and providing educational resources for residents to be informed about the quality of their water. She emphasized the long-standing disrepair of the water infrastructure and the need for clean and safe drinking water. Third-party water administrator Ted Henifin expressed his commitment to the well-being of the citizens of Jackson. Further updates on the hearing will be featured in the evening newscasts.
