Families of men found buried in Hinds County pauper’s cemetery hold news conference

SUMMARY: attorney Ben Crump will hold a conference with the families of Dexter Wade, Marrio Moore and Jonathan Hankins, who were buried in unmarked graves in the pauper's cemetery. Their families were not notified of their deaths for extended periods of time. Wade's mother reported him missing on March 14, 2023, and did not find out he was deceased until August 24, 2023. Moore's didn't learn about his until eight months after he was killed, and Hankins' family only recently found out about his whereabouts. The news conference will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Stronger Hope Baptist Church with attorney Dennis Sweet.

2nd Jackson man sentenced for bank fraud scheme

SUMMARY: Ronald Gardner, a man, was to 61 months in federal prison for conspiracy to commit bank fraud and aggravated identity . He and his co-conspirator, Anthony Craig Myrick, opened an account at a Jackson bank in someone else's name, deposited counterfeit U.S. Treasury checks, withdrew the cash, and used false identification cards. Gardner admitted to manufacturing the counterfeit checks and using another person's identity. The scheme affected at least 10 victims. Both Gardner and Myrick were indicted and pled guilty, with Myrick receiving a 26-month sentence. They were also ordered to pay restitution to the bank.

Multiple Vicksburg homes damaged by gunfire
