Electric Co-op Media Day
SUMMARY: Electric power cooperatives and media representatives attended a conference in Smith County to discuss important issues affecting co-op members in Mississippi. The main topics on the agenda were dealing with debris from dead trees caused by drought and the increase in phone scams targeting co-op members. Electric cooperatives urged patience from members as they work to address the tree damage issue, with thousands of dead trees needing to be removed. They also warned members to be cautious about giving out personal and financial information to protect themselves from scams. More than a half dozen electric co-ops participated in the event, hosted by Southern Pine Electric for the fourth consecutive year.
Tuesday, electric power cooperatives across South Mississippi met with the media and area law enforcement officials at an annual conference.
