Eight Days of Hope to remain in Amory until March 16
SUMMARY: Eight Days of Hope is partnering with Monroe Strong to help rebuild Amry after an ef3 tornado. This is their 20th trip, with 1,800 volunteers from 39 states. They are working hard to rebuild homes and bring hope and love to the community. Volunteers are making progress, such as repairing Miss Lee's house which was badly damaged by a fallen tree. Miss Lee is grateful for the help and sees it as a blessing. Eight Days of Hope will be in Amry until March 16th, dedicated to rebuilding this city that residents call home.
Eight Days of Hope (EDOH) returned to Amory over the weekend for the 20th version of its annual rebuilding trip.

Ridgeland triple homicide suspect killed in Arizona gunfight
SUMMARY: Ivory James Welch III, wanted in connection with a triple homicide in Ridgeland, was killed by Arizona State Troopers. He was the son of Ida Welch, who was shot to death along with her daughters Vicky and Crystal at their home. Crystal Welch, a well-known social justice advocate and Mississippi College law professor, had a passion for helping families and children. Her work impacted many people across the state, and her passing has been mourned by the community. The Mississippi College School of Law also expressed their condolences, remembering Crystal as a dedicated and beloved member of their faculty.

Interview: First responders awards ceremony to be held on May 16 in Amory

The Amry Rotary Club hosts an event where local law enforcement and firefighters are treated to lunch and awarded for their exceptional service. The club allows participants to vote for the first responder of the year, recognizing their dedication and sacrifice. The event, catered by a local bakery, is open to the public to join in showing support for the first responders. The importance of honoring those who serve and protect the community is emphasized, highlighting the dedication and hard work of these individuals.
The awards ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. at The Arbors of Amory.

Multiple injured in ATV wrecks in Lowndes County
SUMMARY: Over the weekend, two ATV accidents occurred resulting in multiple injuries. The first accident involved a mother and her three children being ejected from a Canam side by side vehicle that overturned on Wri Road in Calonia. One child, a six-year-old, remains hospitalized. The second accident involved a 24-year-old who was injured after their vehicle overturned on Canfield Road in Columbus. All individuals involved in the accidents were taken to the hospital for treatment. The Sheriff Eddie Hawkins reported both incidents and emphasized the importance of ATV safety to prevent such accidents in the future.
Two separate ATV wrecks in Lowndes County injured several individuals including children.
