PRCC Honors Institute Medallion Ceremony: Celebrating the Next Generation of Leaders
SUMMARY: The Dr. William Lewis Honors Institute at Pearl River Community College in Mississippi held its annual Medallion Ceremony in April. The event recognized honors students from Forrest County and Poplarville Campuses, including Middle College students. Students had to complete at least 21 hours of honors coursework and maintain a 3.4 GPA to receive a medallion. Guest speakers, including students and faculty members, shared insights on the importance of the Honors Institute in fostering academic excellence. The ceremony concluded with inspiring remarks challenging students to make the most out of their education and future endeavors. A list of students awarded honors medallions was also provided.

Acadian Ambulance honors Mississippi Paramedic and EMT of the Year
SUMMARY: Acadian Ambulance honored its exceptional paramedics and EMTs from its four-state service area at a celebration in Lafayette, LA. Paramedic Kayleigh Dunham and EMT Caroline Cash were finalists for the top honors, representing the company's Mississippi service area. Kayleigh, a native of Jackson County, is a Field Training Officer and recently promoted to a Paramedic Field Supervisor role. Caroline, who came from Pennsylvania, is studying to become a paramedic. Acadian Ambulance, one of the largest ambulance services in the nation, offers emergency and non-emergency transportation in multiple states and is employee-owned and accredited.

Medicaid expansion effort collapses in Mississippi Legislature
SUMMARY: Medicaid expansion efforts in Mississippi failed due to disagreement among lawmakers on a final proposal.
