Court won’t revive lawsuit that says Mississippi officials fueled lawyer’s death during Senate race

3rd-grade state reading assessment passing numbers hold steady

Jackson man sentenced for killing 3 family members, including pregnant sister

SUMMARY: Maurice Forte, a 29-year-old man from , Mississippi, has been to in prison for the murders of his grandmother, mother, and pregnant sister in 2018. Forte was convicted on four counts of capital murder after fatally shooting the three women multiple times in their home. The victims were Forte's grandmother, mother, and sister who was seven-months pregnant. District Attorney Jody Owens stated that Forte showed “senseless violence” by shooting his grandmother eighteen times, his mother nine times, and his pregnant sister twice. Forte will serve life in prison without the possibility of parole for his actions.
