Harrison County School District names William Bentz as next superintendent

No new projects to receive Gulf Coast Restoration Funds this year
SUMMARY: State lawmakers have decided not to dedicate $30 million in Gulf Coast restoration funds to projects this year, despite receiving over a hundred applications. The funds have been used for over 100 projects in previous years, but this year, $40 million was dedicated in 2021 and over $50 million in the previous year, leading to over promising. The Gulf Coast Advisory Board received 108 applications this year, totaling $210 million in requests, but only 22 projects worth $100 million were selected. State Senator Scott Delano stated that a pause was necessary to evaluate and improve the process for selecting transformational projects. Both Delano and Board Chairman Jamie Miller expect the funds to be dedicated to projects in the future.
