Baptist Cancer Center-Oxford plans to hold pickleball tournament benefitting cancer
SUMMARY: The Baptist Cancer Center Oxford is hosting a Pickleball tournament on April 12th to help raise funds for the Jerry and Mary Lexa Patient Assistance Fund. This fund assists cancer patients with medication expenses and other needs they may be unable to afford. Pickleball enthusiasts can join in to play the sport they love while supporting a good cause. Player spots and sponsorships are available for those interested in participating and helping smash cancer.

Whitfield Regional Hospital temporarily closes its Labor and Delivery Unit
SUMMARY: West Alabama hospital, Whitfield Regional Hospital in Demopolis, announced the temporary closure of its labor and delivery unit due to the primary physician being on extended leave until September 1st. The hospital stated on Facebook that there are no replacement physicians available for 24/7 coverage in the unit and plans are in place to ensure emergency medical care related to pregnancy continues to be provided. Another physician, Dr. Lesman, will still perform planned C-sections for established patients who are at or beyond 32 weeks in their pregnancy. The closure is effective immediately, with a focus on patient safety and care during this period.

Jackson fire station demolished

Tree falls into South Jackson home
