Atmos responds to residents’ concerns after 2 explosions
SUMMARY: At a town hall meeting, the gas company informed residents that they had brought in significant resources in response to explosions, but they are unsure if gas leaks are to blame. Atmos Energy has deployed crews to South Jackson to find gas leaks and upgrade infrastructure after two explosions in January, including one that killed an 82-year-old woman. Atmos Vice President Bobby Morgan acknowledged the company's actions at the meeting, and the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the explosions. Councilman Kenneth Stokes hosted the meeting, and residents expressed concern over the safety of the gas infrastructure.

JTRAN drivers still have gripes
SUMMARY: The managing company of Jay Tran buses assured riders that there would be no disruption in service, despite the possibility of a driver strike. Many riders depend on the bus service for their daily transportation needs and were relieved that buses were running on schedule. The Jay Tran employees' union has grievances against the management company, claiming drivers are overworked and penalized for calling in sick. The mayor has scheduled a meeting with the workers to address these issues and urged them to consider the impact on riders before taking any further actions. Riders expressed concern about being caught in the middle of the dispute between management and labor.
