Area mayors pack food for people in need

SUMMARY: Area mayors in Mississippi participated in the statewide canned food as part of “March of the Mayors”, organized by the nonprofit “Extra Table”. Each was assigned a specific food item to collect, such as cans of soup, canned fruit, or bags of dried beans. The collected food was put into individual boxes at the Furniture Market to be distributed through food pantries in the region. This , which has been in for years, took place for the first time in North Mississippi. Mayors emphasized the importance of community engagement in addressing the issue of hunger. Organizers plan to make March of the Mayors an annual event in North Mississippi.
