Amory plans to apply for grant to build community storm shelter
SUMMARY: Amory, Mississippi is still recovering from a tornado that hit last year and city leaders are planning to build a community storm shelter to prepare for future disasters. They are applying for a grant of up to $750,000 to help cover the cost. Residents are supportive of the idea, as it will provide a safe place for those without personal storm shelters to go during severe weather. The city hopes to have the shelter in place by next spring and is asking for letters of support from the community to accompany the grant application.
