Jackson settles lawsuit with George Robinson’s family
SUMMARY: The city of Jackson is making the final payment to Ben Wade after a lawsuit was filed against the city following her brother's death. George Robinson was killed by a former Jackson police officer and Wade sought compensation. The city council unanimously agreed to settle for $117,000 in 2019. The officer involved, Anthony Fox, was later convicted and sentenced to prison but had his conviction reversed in 2022. Some believe Wade deserves more compensation for her brother's death. The city's legal team worked to avoid taking money from taxpayers for settlements, but some feel more should have been done for the family.
